The Bowie knife is named after Colonel James Bowie, who used a knife like this one in the legendary Sandbar Fight that took place in 1827. Bowie designed the knife and it was forged by an Arkansas blacksmith named James Black.
Since its invention in the late 19th century the Bowie knife has been copied the world over, but the name typically describes a sheath knife with a clip point. Our Bowie knife with a waisted handle also has a false edge that covers a bit more than half of the back. The handle is concave on both sides (waisted) and made of wood. The shape makes it fit any hand well. It also has a hand guard that prevents your hand from slipping forward onto the blade in the heat of a fight. This waisted handle Bowie knife is comparatively lightweight and extremely well balanced.
The knife comes with a sharp blade that can be made blunt in our workshops for an additional cost.
It comes with a sheath made of genuine leather. For your carrying convenience, there is a loop on the sheath that will fit most belts.
