I am a prolific online buyer as I have an illness that makes me home bound most of the time. I am also a prolific collector, for many years, of collections from books through DVD and memorabilia to what is now my newest collection of letter openers. I do not normally REVIEW any items I have purchased BUT in this case I wanted to. I have purchased 5 items from Southern Swords (1 Kilt Dirk & 4 letter openers). In all dealings with the company I have been greatly pleased with their responses to queries, their great delivery times and great quality/materials of ALL the items that I have purchased. One of the letter openers has a minor blemish which is acceptable to mini items generally in my opinion. I WILL have no hesitation in recommending Southern Swords and their products if the circumstance arises. The only reason I have given the price a 4 star rating is that there is at least I product that is cheaper in another of their sites, CAN YOU FIND THE ONE I FOUND. I know this is a general review BUT I will be adding it to the other items I have purchased.

As I said with its little sister the Late 19th Century Sgian Dubh, this is a lovely solid well made piece which fees solid and reliable in the hand. When worn with the full Highland dress it truly adds that certain finishing touch to any Pipers' ensemble. If any criticism can be leveled is that it's blade is blunt also the fork is straight rather than curved as one would see on a dining table but that is being picky aside from that I would say to anyone thinking of buying a Dirk this is the one for you.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this piece. It is well made with, real wood and leather, no cheap plastic parts. The look and feel is quality that you can be proud to wear. For a reproduction you can wear it anywhere and it will look great. The price it is well worth it. Be aware the blades are not at all sharp but if you need a piece for looks this is excellent. Very quick delivery easy to deal with.

  5. Great value 1 people found this helpful

Many Scottish dirks for sale are either expensive antiques, expensive handmade pieces or cheaply made "imports". The handmade ones, of which I own several, are beautiful reproductions of museum pieces . This Scottish dirk is not a cheap imitation. It may not be museum quality but is the best value for the price. Additionally, I received the item very quickly. Great item and wonderful business.
