The bascinet helmet is an early 14th century development of the cervelliere, which only covered the upper part of its wearer's skull. The neck guard became longer and longer over time, so that finally the knight's entire head and neck area – except for his face – was protected. At the beginning they were worn underneath great helms, but mounted knights soon put their sole trust in their bascinets.
Our classic bascinet is forged of 18 gauge steel and lined with leather. A leather chin strap secures the approx. 1.65 kg helmet to your head. This classic bascinet fits a maximum head size of 68 cm.
We also have a helmet stand for this item as pictured which is usually £19- but if purchased with the helmet is only £15-
