This Late Gothic bastard (hand and a half) sword with belt is an outstanding example of an Oakeshott type XVIIIa sword. Type XVIIIa swords are type XVIII swords that have been designed for use with one and a half hands.

A straight crossguard and classic wheel pommel framed by a flower motif on both sides give this bastard sword its look of simple elegance. The wooden grip with two ribs for a good grip is covered with brown leather and adds to the impressively simple statement this sword makes. Made with an even taper until just before the point, the blade has such good balance and a comfortable weight that it does not require a fuller.

The special feature: our Late Gothic bastard sword comes with a belt and matching scabbard made of leather. The scabbard has decorative ribs and three buckles to fasten it to the loops on the leather belt.
