The swords are well made, durable and have stood up to initial stage combat rehearsals, I look forward to many years of Shakespearean and historical stage combat with these. Thank You Sue.

This is a real, full tang, peened, hammer forged sword. It is full rapier length, is steel from tip to handle. Mine came sharp, and I sharpened it with my sharpener a little bit more. Wire wrap handle. The scabbard is leather, with a metal tip and a metal rim. The leather is in the tip tight and the tightly compacted leather tip is what grips the sword When it is sheathed. The lip is metal but the opening is wide so you can avoid touching the blade to the rim of the scabbard during sheathing. I would like an update to that feature to have it be some other hard material that is not metal, but it is fine. Overall this is a great sword but I just recieved it. I tested the spring temper and it does flex 30 degrees then return to true. This’ll do ya’. Good price. The company is very nice and has good customer service. They let me pay without paypal, whom I am boycotting, and they shipped it immediately. I received the sword in the USA from Great Britain within three days. Awesome folks. It came wrapped in lots of shrinkwrap with a tim protector and a plank of wood in the box to prevent accidents. The blade was oily but the handle and swept guard were not, thankfully. The scabbard is the same one sold elsewhere on the website, the black one. You can Tell that it was peened and that the blade was hammered and that the guard was forge welded. I am very impressed. For such a good price, too. Thanks, Southern Swords! I now have my EDC in America! It is like Fezzik said in the Princess Bride: “You be careful, people in masks cannot be trusted.”

A lightning fast service and a perfectly practical rapier . Very pleased and will be using southern swords again. The blade is nicely made (I confess i forgot how long rapiers are) and the solid construction will be needed for the abuse my sparring partners will no doubt subject it to.

This sword is solidly built and we'll balanced. It's a little heavier than I expected, I weighed it at 1585g! The gaurd is not black steel but it painted black, when it arrived this paint had a few bucks and chips. The blade it very solid with not as much flex as I would like and it's been fixed to the hilt ever so slightly squint. So what you get for under £100 is a solid rapier that looks like it is going to put up with some real punishment, but could of had slightly better attention to detail.
