Bascinet With Mail Coif

The inner circumference of this bascinet with mail coif measures approx. 63 cm and the helmet is made of 18 gauge steel.

A bascinet with mail coif like this one could have been worn beneath a large great helm (i.e. our Gothic Knight helmet) to protect the knight's head as much as possible. But you can also wear this bascinet alone. In combination with the mail coif, it provided enough protection without restricting its wearer's ability to see or breathe. The interior is line with soft padding for increased wearing comfort, and it can be adjusted to fit a range of head sizes.
